Andy is an Otolaryngologist at Waikato Hospital and a Senior Lecturer at The University of Auckland. He completed his medical degree at The University of Oxford in 2003, was awarded his PhD at The University of Auckland in 2013 and completed his ENT training in New Zealand in 2014. He has a strong research and clinical focus on Rhinology and has published a number of articles on the microbiology of chronic rhinosinusitis.
Andy’s recent research topics have included post-operative care following sinus surgery, equity of access to ENT care and surgical simulation in undergraduate teaching. He is currently Principal Investigator in a multi-national device trial for sinusitis treatment as well as a randomised trial of antibiotics following sinus surgery in collaboration with Waikato University. When at Medical School he was the founding member of the Hugh Cairns Surgical Careers Society, is incoming vice-Chair of the New Zealand Training, Education and Assessment Committee for ENT Surgery and is a founding member of the Waikato Institute of Surgical Education and Research. |
